Globe Express Services opened three new offices in China during the first half of 2004. New corporate facilities were added in Shenzhen, Qingdao and Tianjin. The expansion brings the number of corporate offices in China to eight. “Global sourcing trends indicate that importers and exporters are reaching deeper into China, especially the Northeast,” reports Bill Smith, logistics and marketing manager. “While Hong Kong will remain of great strategic importance, expanding alternative port volumes require additional Globe Express personnel and assets ‘on the ground’ in these new locations.” Globe Express is a third-party logistics provider of IT-based cargo management. The company offers a flexible suite of global logistics products, including ocean and airfreight forwarding, customhouse brokerage, multi-vendor and country consolidation, warehousing and distribution, and value added information services. www.globeexpress.com

Supported by a network of 42 cross-dock operations throughout the United States, Exel Direct provides nationwide home delivery services on behalf of many of the country’s largest retailers. In June the company announced it had begun providing in-home delivery for Best Buy Co.
