Häfele has taken a leadership role in the development of connectors for honeycomb panels, offering furniture designers greater flexibility in lightweight panel construction. Changes in both connector and honeycomb technology are making it easier to use the two together, reports Donn Wilber, product manager for Hafele America Co. “Traditionally, wherever there was a need for a structural joint, framing inside was required because you needed an anchoring area. We developed a high quality, precise way of connecting honeycomb panels without framing.” Honeycomb panels are lightweight and compatible with a material thickness of one inch or greater. The use of honeycomb connectors saves time and cost, as there is no glue bonding or special equipment required. www.hafele.com
