CIT Commercial Services, New York, has acquired a substantial portion of the U.S. factoring assets of GE Commercial Services, a division of GE Corporate Financial Services. CIT Commercial Services is a unit of CIT Group Inc. and provides factoring, accounts receivable management, credit protection and lending services. “Factoring has always been a core strength of CIT, and this transaction underscores CIT’s corporate strategy to seek out opportunities that fit nicely and expand our existing business lines,” said Albert R. Gerber Technology, Tolland, Conn., has appointed Rodney Harrelson deputy regional director and Barry Jackowitz director of aftermarket sales in the Americas region. Harrelson manages all sales operations in the West Coast area, Canada and a 50-mile border area of Mexico along the states of Arizona and California. He is based in Los Angeles with all West Coast sales personnel reporting to him.

MGM Transport Corp., High Point, N.C., has purchased 31 new Volvo trucks in response to increased business and expansion of its service territories. Additionally, the company will add 125 specially equipped new Great Dane trailers over the next 18 months. The fleet additions are partly to replace older equipment, but also to respond to the company’s expanded services throughout the southeast and into the Midwest. Most recently, the company opened a terminal in the Los Angeles area to offer direct service from California to the entire East Coast.
