Globe Express Services, a global third party logistics provider specializing in transpacific trade, has implemented enterprise level electronic documents software to streamline the traditionally paper intensive freight forwarding and customs brokerage processes.
“Our goal was to facilitate the electronic movement of import/export documentation worldwide,” says Roger Soudir, Globe’s Regional Director and the architect of the project. “We wanted to introduce speed and convenience to an historically laborious process while maintaining the highest level of integrity and security.”
Efficiencies realized by the transition include:
- An accelerated documentation process featuring near instantaneous web transmission of import/export paperwork;
- Digitization of paper documents using optical character recognition, allowing for simplified search and retrieval;
- Use of an intelligent search engine to pull entire sets of related files by entering any common reference criteria; and,
- More efficient and secure document storage for customs purposes.
“With U.S. Customs now allowing paperless processing on most entries, we felt this was an important evolution that would enable Globe to better serve its customers,” says Soudir.
