Summer AHFA Meetings

Pinehurst

AHFA will hold three summer meetings in 2006 designed to help member companies keep their top executives connected with industry colleagues and up-to-date on emerging issues in their professional focus areas. Supplier Division members are invited to all meetings and are urged to take advantage of these networking opportunities.

The Annual Finance Meeting will kick off the summer’s events June 8-10 in Pinehurst, N.C. Registration information for the finance meeting has been mailed. The agenda and registration form also are available online at www.ahfa.us under “Events.”

Keeping members on the cutting edge of marketing trends is the objective of the Annual Marketing Meeting August 2-4 at the Westin
Westin Savannah
Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Ga. Charles Kennedy, senior vice president of social trends for DYG Inc. and one of the most highly-rated speakers from the 2005 Marketing Meeting, will be back to describe a new demographic group – the YOCOs, or Young Cosmopolitans – and their impact on the home furnishings market. A consumer panel featuring a cross-section of Savannah-area consumers will be moderated by Kim Shaver, vice president of marketing communications for Hooker Furniture and former consumer editor at Furniture/Today. And another panel will feature marketing executives from companies that have participated in ABC’s “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.” Titled “Extreme Makeover: The Good, The Bad, and What I’d Do Differently,” this discussion will offer important tips for companies considering a role in one of the program’s intense makeover projects.

Additional topics being pursued for the August meeting include improving the customer experience, reviving your position in the marketplace and the role of research in product development.

The marketing meeting will once again be preceded by a half-day Public Relations Workshop that will feature insightful discussions with magazine and newspaper journalists. Participating companies also will receive valuable tips on maximizing publicity opportunities during the International Home Furnishings Market in High Point. The workshop is slated from 1 to 5 p.m. Wednesday, August 2.

Embassy Suites

Completing the summer’s roster of professional enrichment opportunities is the Annual Transportation & Logistics Meeting at the Embassy Suites Kingston Plantation in Myrtle Beach, S.C. This is the first time since 2003 that transportation and logistics professionals have been offered a dedicated conference. T&L was included in an Operations Conference in 2005 and combined with information technology and manufacturing in 2004. In addition to covering key issues in both domestic and international shipping, this important event will connect manufacturer companies with a host of new supplier resources in the transportation and logistics arena.

All program details and registration materials will be available on the AHFA website under “EVENTS” as they are finalized.
