The American Home Furnishings Alliance offers a powerful package of programs and services that promote the growth and global leadership of our member companies.
AHFA is your strategic partner and advocate on Capitol Hill, conferring with senior members of the Administration and Congressional staffs, testifying at Congressional and regulatory hearings and maintaining relationships with all agencies that impact our industry.
In addition, AHFA provides funding for scientific research on issues such as flammability, formaldehyde emissions, product safety and many others that impact the manufacture, sales and marketing of home furnishings products in the United States.
Members are kept apprised of legislative and regulatory activity by a monthly WashingtonReport, as well as by an online report, AHFA in Action, that summarizes the Alliance’s position on specific issues and provides updates on recent activities.
Through voluntary contributions, AHFA sponsors a Furniture Political Action Committee, FurnPAC, which supports private enterprise candidates seeking election to the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives. FurnPAC is bipartisan and is governed by a board of directors representing a cross-section of the membership.
When companies join AHFA, they not only help our industry work toward sensible government policies, they also gain access to the most reliable, first-hand source of information to help them:
- decipher compliance guidelines,
- save compliance costs, and
- avoid non-compliance violations.
Regulatory mandates related to product safety, pollution abatement and corporate governance multiply every year. AHFA’s comprehensive compliance tools provide the insights, education and resources companies need to manage corporate compliance. Look for the Regulatory Compliance link, right on the AHFA.us home page!
AHFA’s organizational structure, programs and services are designed to encourage participation and continuing education at all levels of furniture company management – from the company president to the plant supervisor.
Six “Focus Areas” have been established to create a network of knowledge communities within our organization. These include: CEOs/Presidents, Environmental Affairs, Human Resources, Manufacturing, Marketing/Public Relations and Transportation/Logistics. Each area holds conferences and/or technical training for professional development and networking opportunities.
AHFA offers dozens of industry-specific, online education and training resources for home furnishings executives. Miss a webinar or an education conference? Members will find an Education link on the AHFA.us home page that leads to all available presentations.
Membership in AHFA allows companies to operate more efficiently and economically by taking advantage of special programs negotiated with the full buying strength of the AHFA member base. Programs include:

AHFA’s Public Relations Program was launched in 1999 as a unified, multi-media communications effort focused on motivating more consumers to purchase more furniture more often. The program includes press releases to the top newspapers, magazines and online content providers nationwide, a consumer website (www.findyourfurniture.com) and PR support for companies exhibiting at the High Point and Las Vegas markets, as well as the International Casual Furniture and Accessories Market in Chicago.
