A variety of resources are available exclusively to AHFA member company executives to assist in the Human Resources, Health and Safety functions.
Among the newest of these is a jobs website, www.myfurniturecareer.com, dedicated to attracting candidates for the hundreds of available manufacturing positions in the Catawba County area of North Carolina. Our online HR Resources include a variety of tools to help HR directors maximize the lead generation provided by www.myfurniturecareer.com.
A monthly newsletter, HR Close-Up, addresses labor relations and other employment-related issues. Salary surveys designed to assist the HR function include a Management Salary Survey, Manufacturers’ Benefits Survey and a Sales Rep Compensation Survey.
A key benefit of AHFA membership is access to the AHFA Scholarship Program, which awards twelve $2,500 scholarships to children of full-time member company employees. Executives overseeing HR are urged to make information on the program available to their employees.
Resources specifically designed to assist with health and safety matters include AHFA’s Voluntary Ergonomics Guideline and Integrated Safety Performance program. These programs assist furniture manufacturing employers in recognizing and controlling potential workplace hazards.
Also, a convenient link is provided to the Pandemic Flu Checklist created by the Centers for Disease Control for large businesses.
Members also have access to the summary report on a six-year, $1.9 million study of the respiratory health effects of wood dust conducted for AHFA in 2005 by Tulane University Medical School.
